DIAGNOSIS
What is IT Band Syndrome?
Iliotibial Band Syndrome – IT Band Syndrome – is a common overuse injury affecting the iliotibial band—a thick band of connective tissue running along the outer thigh from the hip to the knee. This condition occurs when the IT band becomes tight or inflamed, causing pain and restricted movement. IT Band Syndrome is especially common among runners, skiers, and athletes who engage in repetitive knee flexion and extension.

IT Band Symptoms:
- Pain on the outer side of the knee, especially during physical activity.
- A snapping or popping sensation along the outer knee.
- Tenderness or swelling along the IT band.
- Discomfort while bending the knee, climbing stairs, or walking downhill.
- Tightness in the hip or outer thigh.
IT Band Causes

Running & Cycling
Repetitive motions can strain the IT band, leading to inflammation.

Skiing
Twisting motions and prolonged knee stress can contribute to IT band irritation.

Hip Problems
Poor biomechanics or muscle imbalances in the hips can place additional stress on the IT band.

Improper Footwear
Worn-out or unsupportive shoes can lead to improper alignment and increased strain on the band.

I was in an accident over a year ago, resulting in significant neck pain with shooting pain and tingling down my right arm. It progressively got worse. I went to see Dr. Nick at Flow Concierge Health Care. He did chiropractic adjustments, dry needling and gave me a few “corrective” exercises. After only a handful of visits, there are no symptoms going down my arm, and I’m able to hold my head up fully without neck or arm pain. Really thorough, very affordable, highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

I have always had issues with proprioception and mind-body connection, making simple things like sitting and walking feel deeply uncomfortable and complicated. I received some manual adjustments from Dr. Nick a couple of days ago, and my body feels more put-together than it has in several years. It's very comfortable to sit in a stable position, and my hip muscles are back "online". I look forward to seeing him monthly for a while to see what else is possible.Posted on Google![]()

Dr. Nick helped me with my lower back pain and has done the best chiropractic adjustment I’ve ever had! He takes his time by learning you as an individual then explaining the issues and process he uses each session! His dry needling helped tremendously as I was a bit nervous at first to try it but felt amazing after! I recommend all my friends and family to Dr.Nick for any chiropractic needs!Posted on Google![]()

At age 61, after meniscus repair surgery and stalled recovery progress for 6 months, I was referred to Dr. Nick. His shockwave therapy and adjustments changed everything — my knee feels great again, no pain and back to trail running strong again.Posted on Google![]()

Nick brings a breadth of professional and personal experience to his work that is extremely valuable and hard to find. Rather than narrowing treatment to a simple, one-dimensional approach, Nick combines a range of disciplines and techniques, addressing whole health, not simply symptoms.Posted on Google![]()

Nick Manteris is the best chiropractor my family and I have ever had. He is an expert at finding and relieving all kinds of health issues, whether it be through bodywork, needling, or advising us on stretches and exercises that will help us avoid injuring ourselves in the future. His warm and approachable bedside manner has endeared him to my teenager and my small children alike. He is patient, and I never feel rushed out the door like I have with other providers. I absolutely recommend him for anyone’s chiropractic or PT needs!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
