DIAGNOSIS
What is IT Band Syndrome?
Iliotibial Band Syndrome – IT Band Syndrome – is a common overuse injury affecting the iliotibial band—a thick band of connective tissue running along the outer thigh from the hip to the knee. This condition occurs when the IT band becomes tight or inflamed, causing pain and restricted movement. IT Band Syndrome is especially common among runners, skiers, and athletes who engage in repetitive knee flexion and extension.

IT Band Symptoms:
- Pain on the outer side of the knee, especially during physical activity.
- A snapping or popping sensation along the outer knee.
- Tenderness or swelling along the IT band.
- Discomfort while bending the knee, climbing stairs, or walking downhill.
- Tightness in the hip or outer thigh.
IT Band Causes

Running & Cycling
Repetitive motions can strain the IT band, leading to inflammation.

Skiing
Twisting motions and prolonged knee stress can contribute to IT band irritation.

Hip Problems
Poor biomechanics or muscle imbalances in the hips can place additional stress on the IT band.

Improper Footwear
Worn-out or unsupportive shoes can lead to improper alignment and increased strain on the band.

EXCELLENT Based on 39 reviews Posted on Adam HarrisonSeptember 25, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nick Manteris is the best chiropractor my family and I have ever had. He is an expert at finding and relieving all kinds of health issues, whether it be through bodywork, needling, or advising us on stretches and exercises that will help us avoid injuring ourselves in the future. His warm and approachable bedside manner has endeared him to my teenager and my small children alike. He is patient, and I never feel rushed out the door like I have with other providers. I absolutely recommend him for anyone’s chiropractic or PT needs!Posted on Jenn RossAugust 12, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Nick is incredibly knowledgeable and holistic in treatment. He strives to align the most effective modalities for the situation. I have a complex ankle injury that affects my posture, gait, hips and knees. He has taken the time to explain all the components and identify the right treatment to ensure positive progress. I love that he isn’t in to building billable therapies, but rather, truly wants to drive result oriented therapy. Prior to my injury, I frequented Dr. Nick for effective, overall wellness. Post injury, I trust him to be a vested and effective expert in my recovery journey.Posted on Cheryl StClairAugust 7, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Nick at Flow Concierge is hands down the best chiropractor I’ve ever been to. After battling low back pain for many years he was able to get to the root of the problem and I started to feel better even after my first visit. He’s thorough and clearly an expert in his field! Go see him, you won’t be disappointed!!!Posted on Shari WagnerAugust 6, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If I could give 10 stars to Dr. Nick, I would! I was referred to him for Shockwave therapy for tendonitis and labral tears in my shoulders. I'm a personal trainer, so being able to use my body is crucial and the sudden onset of pain made me unable to do anything with my upper body, including physical therapy exercises. After just the first Shockwave session, I noticed an improvement in my pain and movement ability. After about 5 sessions, I was doing overhead presses for the first time in months! Dr. Nick is very knowledgeable about the Shockwave system and how to use it (sometimes along with things like dry needling) to get the best results possible for his patients.Posted on Gabriella LaurenJune 2, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
